Knowing your own self-worth will change your life. From the day we’re born, we are conditioned by the values that are bestowed upon us by our teachers. We live and choose based on these values, for good or for bad. We might find ourselves in discussions with others, because they disagree with our beliefs and faiths, things that has been taught by those who guided us through our upbringing.
Everyone has their own compass and thoughts. Some are living in insecurity, some are living in depression, some are happy, some are poor, some are rich. We’re all different, but the essence of our being is the one thing that is truly our own. We’re all unique humans with the power to change our surroundings. You are the architect of your own life. Don’t forget that.
Save yourself first
When you’re on an airplane, the safety presentation before take-off shows you what to do in the event of an emergency. “Put the oxygen mask on your own face before helping those around you.” In other words, in order to save the ones around you, you need to save yourself first to be able to do so.
This is true, not only in aerial emergency situations, but in life in general. If you know your self-worth and work towards bettering yourself, learning to accept and love yourself, and become confident in yourself, you’ll be able to help others much more efficiently. Sometimes it’s by showing them that you’ve been through tough situations yourself and even though it might seem like there’s no hope in the moment, everything will turn out fine. You’re giving them hope, because you have been there and you survived. You’re giving their sensory neurons proof of concept.
As you grow and become more aware of your abilities, you’ll become happier and more fulfilled. You’ll see that the world is not as scary as you might have thought, and that you have equal rights to live and love as anyone else. When you accept yourself and accept that everyone is different, you’ll become truly free to express what you need to express. To create something “you” in the world.
What makes you happy?
I often say that you shouldn’t plant your garden according to your neighbor’s advice. Don’t live your life according to how other people tell you to live. Because how can other people know what truly makes you happy? They’re giving advice according to their own perspectives and how they find joy in life. Luckily, one size does not fit all.
In conclusion, once you see that everything is up to you and accept yourself for all the flaws and imperfections you might have, you’re free. You’ll start bettering yourself as a human being. You become aware of how you act. You’ll live more harmoniously, from love and compassion, and life becomes truly amazing. That’s why knowing your own self-worth will change your life for the better.
Life is a journey in which you have to grow into the person you want to be. Your parents, teachers, friends and loved ones gave you the foundation. Now it’s up to you to correct the beliefs that doesn’t fully resonate with you. Learn how to live life according to your own happiness.
